Fishing Knots
|
The Palomar Knot
Double
4 inches of line and pass the loop formed through the eye of the fishing
hook.
|
|
Let
the hook hang loose. Tie an overhand knot in doubled line. Don't twist
or tighten line.
|
Pull
the loop far enough to pass it completely over the hook.
|
|
Wet
the line. Hold the hook carefully, and pull the loose end with the
standing line slowly to tighten the knot. Clip the loose end and you one
of the best fishing knots known.
|
The Improved Clinch Knot
To tie the Improved Clinch Knot, pass line through the hook eye once or
twice and, with the tag end, make 5 or more turns around the standing line.
Insert the loose end of the line between eye and first loop formed. Bring
the end through the large second loop formed.

Wet the line and tighten the knot slowly while holding the loose end of the
line end between thumb and index finger so the knot is partly closed before
it's secured against the eye. Clip the loose end of the line.

The Blood Knot
The blood knot is used for tying two pieces of fishing line
together. This is one of those fishing knots that you occasionally will
need. But it is a fishing knot that many anglers unfortunately don't know
how to tie.

The Arbor
Knot
The Arbor knot is most often used to attach fishing line to a fishing reel!

The Albright Knot
The Albright knot is often
used by fly fisherman to join fly line and leader material but can be used
when joining any two lines of unequal size together.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There are only a few loops shown in the picture below. When
making your loops use anywhere from 7 to 11 loops to ensure it doesn't slip.

Trotline Knot
This knot is used anytime you
want to attach as drop hook to a main line where the hook hang off of the
main line and will not slide up and down the line. Most often used on trot
line for catfish.
Note: After finished tying pull the hook to tighten and then
grasp the main line on opposites sides of the drop line and pull tight by
pulling away from the hook.

The Offshore
swivel knot is used to attach a swivel or even a hook to a main line.
Commonly used to provide a place to attach a hook or sinker off of another
short line. But also comes in handy if you want to attach a swivel or hook
to a double line.
When you have completed the steps shown pull tight while working the knot
down onto the eye of the swivel.

The Bowline
Knot
The Bowline Knot is one of the most important fishing knots that can be
used. It isn't used to tie fishing baits on. Instead the bowline knot is
used to tie your boat to some mooring platform Wether it be an oil rig or
the camp dock, this knot shows its unique strength when you go to untie. No
matter how hard the knot has been pulled it is always easily untied even
when wet.
